Pro bono programme

Pro bono help for New Zealand charities

Charities and not-for-profits do vital work with limited resources. We set aside time to help, free of charge, with AI, automation, data and websites. Tell us about your challenge and we’ll see how we can help.

Why we do this

Technology shouldn’t only help those who can afford it

New Zealand has about 29,000 registered charities (Charities Services), and many of them run on small budgets and volunteer time. The same tools that save businesses hours every week can free up a charity’s people to focus on their mission.

Our pro bono programme puts enterprise-grade skills to work for organisations that make a difference in their communities.

What we can help with

Where we can make a difference

  • AI and automation

Free up staff and volunteer time by automating admin such as data entry, reporting, rostering and email.

  • Websites

A fast, accessible website that explains your cause clearly and makes it easy to donate, volunteer or get help.

  • Data and reporting

Bring your data together for funder reports and impact measurement, without the spreadsheet marathons.

  • Strategy and advice

Independent advice on which tools are worth it, how to use AI safely and where to start.

Who can apply

Eligibility

  • Registered charities on the New Zealand Charities Register
  • Charitable trusts, incorporated societies and community groups with a community purpose
  • Based in New Zealand and serving people or communities here
  • A clear challenge where AI, automation, data or a website could make a real difference

We look for projects where our help will make the biggest difference to the people you serve.

How it works

Simple from start to finish

  1. Apply

Tell us about your organisation and the challenge you’re facing. It takes about ten minutes.

  2. Review

We read every application and consider where our skills could make the biggest difference.

  3. Conversation

If it’s a good fit, we have a short call to understand your needs and constraints.

  4. Scope and deliver

We agree a clear, achievable scope, deliver it and make sure your team can run with it.

FAQ

Pro bono questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Pro bono projects are delivered at no cost to your organisation. We agree a clear, achievable scope together so everyone knows what will be delivered.

How many projects do you take on?

We take on a limited number of pro bono projects at a time, so each one gets our full attention. If we can’t take your project on now, we’ll tell you honestly and, where we can, point you to other help.

We’re not a registered charity. Can we still apply?

Yes. Charitable trusts, incorporated societies, community groups and other not-for-profits with a community purpose are welcome to apply.

What happens after we apply?

We read every application. If it looks like a good fit, we’ll arrange a short call to understand your needs before agreeing a scope. Either way, we’ll let you know the outcome.

What do you ask in return?

Nothing financial. If the project helps, we’d love to share the story, with your permission, so other organisations can learn from it.
